Authorities of the Nigerian Senate have said that Senator Ovie Omo-Agege was responsible for the invasion of the Senate plenary on Wednesday morning by persons suspected to be thugs, during which the mace was seized and taken away by the invaders.
Omo-Agege is currently on 90-day suspension over his comment that the amendment to the Electoral Act 2010 to reorder the sequence of polls in a general election was targeted at President Muhammadu Buhari.
In its verified Twitter handle, The Nigerian Senate, the authorities wrote:
“This action is an act of treason, as it is an attempt to overthrow a branch of the Federal Governemnt of Nigeria by force…”
